Write a Personal Mission Statement
Mission statement is a formal short written note explaining purposes of company or firm. Mission statement should guide toward actions, goals, decision making and scenes of directions of firm or organization. Mission statement is very necessary not only for business firms but also for a person in order to guide his/her career toward right path. It provides a frame work for strategy formation of company. One biggest mistake which is conducted by many professionals is not having a clear vision about their goals.
It doesn’t matter either you are returning to your old job or workforce after a long sabbatical or are frustrated worker looking for career diversification. You must have to know about your motives or plan of actions in order to create permanent settlements in your career.
Tips & Techniques
- Write your main beliefs or values. These values compel you to strongly support to select your career path and leave you disapprove job offers, if they are not in correspondence to your personal values.
- Mention your three career aspects that are most meaningful to you such as receiving satisfactory responses or thank you note from happy clients, working with devoted people and providing medical care to war veterans.
- List your talents & knowledge and describe their impacts on your professional & personal life. Illustrate some practical examples.
- Your mission statement should incorporate your core values and three meaningful aspects of your career.
- Reread your mission statement and make sure that it will inspire you to achieve short and long-term goals on daily basis.
- Take a print of your mission statement and paste it on your bedroom wall and refrigerator at home or on any other place where you will see it frequently.
- If you have some plans like you want to start coaching classes or gardening club etc. You should write them in mission statement so that it will initiate you to take initial steps.
- Your mission statement can be as long as you wish because it is a personal document. But if you design it as precise as possible then it would be easier to view it daily because it is based on your career goals and its daily review keeps your concentration towards your ultimate goals.
- Don’t limit your mission statement only towards career goals; you can also include your fitness goals, personal financial goals and educational goals in your personal mission statement.
After reading all guidelines take a pen and paper, start rolling pen on paper and ask your goals from yourself, you can also write your dreams because the dreams are the first step for goals. These goals provide you straight future path so pen down all your goals and dreams to formulate a personal mission statement to secure your future.
