Recent labor studies have predicted that job opportunities for nursing will continue to grow faster at least for next five years. No doubt it is good news for nurses in job market but this is also a fact that this trend doesn’t decrease the competition for most desired positions of nurses. If nurses want to adopt this rewarding career then they will need to pay their close attention toward the presentation of their accreditation in resume in order to ensure that they can compete in this demanding medical profession. Crafting a solid resume is first crucial step in landing for nursing job.

Nursing is one of the hottest and most demanding career field today and well-crafted resume, cover letter and good communication skills can help to find a truly rewarding and lucrative career in hospitals, clinic or private practice.

  • Start your resume with your objective statement and include all relevant information associated to the exact position you are seeking for. Mention the department, unit or floor you are interested to work in and also mention your preferred shift. You can also mention that whether you are able to move to a new city or not.
  • You can also mention your goals below the objective section but this section is optional. You can write future plans and professional dreams. If you have planned to enhance your educational credentials or any nursing specializations you can mention in this section of resume.
  • Next section is your professional work experience section and you should devote your most time and energy to this section by thinking ahead about the duties and responsibilities relating to the position. Design your resume in a way that clearly point out your previous experience.
  • Try to use action-oriented keywords and write your complete job titles with name of all those organization where you work along with duration.
  • Don’t neglect the importance of your educational qualifications; in fact you can not get into the door without right qualification. Therefore mention all educational programs you have studied and degrees you earned in chronological order.
  • Your professional certification and licenses are especially play vital role if you have done specialization in a particular field. Include all of them in your resume to open various doors of opportunities for you.
  • You can also put at least one or if possible 2-3 high-quality professional reference. For nursing resume reference of a doctor or head nurse of any unit or floor in hospital would be better for you.
