SalesSales jobs are similar to marketing jobs which requires some characteristics in person who offers his services as a sales man like unique body of knowledge, code of ethics, standards of entry and a service orientation to profession. If you have all these qualities then you can land for sales jobs but the first step in applying for any job is perfect resume writing. Some candidates follow general chronological resume and simply mention their previous job duties but the sales resumes need to be result-oriented. Therefore when you are writing your sales resume you might need to emphasize on your sales achievements before prospective employers. When the employers conduct sales man interview they need to know about your capability of producing profit.

Your resume should be concise and reflects the achievements of your prior job. You should include all facts about how would you improve overall success of your department. You should be limited to 1-2 pages.

Tips to Design Action Oriented Resume

  • Start your resume with sound personal information. Your basic contact information includes your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address. You should provide your initial profile statement in sales resume to summarize your sales career in a few powerful sentences after introduction.
  • Start your resume with your personal information and write strong job objectives below your personal information. Match your skills with job requirement to impress hiring authorities of organization.
  • Try to start each section of resume with action verbs to show your previous job achievements perfectly. You can use such type of words like “increased profits of firm” and “negotiate 20 new contracts”.
  • List all improvement in department during your employment period in every organization. If you have any special skill or got any training related to present position you applied for then you can also list them in resume. You can also mention any additional language and computer skills if you have.
  • After drafting your resume proof read it by some experts like your friend, colleague or any professional resume writer. Make sure that your resume must be perfect and free from any kind of error.
  • You can mention your previous employment history with comprehensive details like previous employer’s name and your position held with each company. Under each company name briefly highlight your responsibilities designation.
  • You should use bullet points to highlight your skills, qualification and achievements. You can also use sub headings to highlight each section. If you have any notable continues record for increase in sales of any organization then you can mention them in chronological order.
  • You should also mention all sales awards and promotions through your whole career in sales. Take a print out of your resume on high quality paper and make sure the printer which you use must provide fine & clear results.
  • When you are listing your sales achievements keep confidential agreements of your past employer in your mind and don’t compromise on any confidential information.
  • At the end tries to list only positive references.
